Scalp Problems and Issues

When it comes to our scalp, there are many  issues people encounter during their lifetime and most of these affect at least 80% of the world’s population. Scalp issues are usually provoked by many possible causes, including  heredity and inappropriate nutrition. The hygiene routine may constitute one of the main sources or causes of scalp problems. There are numerous aspects to consider when choosing a shampoo, a hair spray or when using hot tools, like the hair dryer and curling iron.

Dandruff

Dandruff is the most common scalp issue worldwide and it can affect people of any age, from babies to elderly people. Dandruff is characterized by the shedding of dead cells of the scalp and it usually appears after a detergent treatment – in other words, when we wash our hair with shampoo and other cleansing type of hair care products. There are several stages of dandruff, as it may be mild, moderate or chronic.

The extent of this scalp condition is usually determined by the type of shampoo or other products you use. Dandruff may also  appear as a result of changing to different types of shampoo in a short period of time. This is why it is highly important to choose only the most appropriate product for your hair type and use it all the time, without changing this routine. Check the ingredient list to see if has a lot of unwanted chemicals in the listing. Its always better to use shampoos that are gentle, natural and chemical free.

Baldness

Going bald is one of the most common scalp issues in case of men, but it can also appear in women, resulting in bald patches. This topic is extremely controversial, as there are multiple factors which determine the appearance of hair loss and baldness. In most of the cases, the heredity and the nutrition are two of the main factors which lead to baldness. In some situations, this condition may result as a consequence of cytostatsis or chemotherapy.
Hair loss may also be caused by change in the hormones as we age. Another cause of baldness is illness especially scalp infections, typhoid fever and scarlet fever. In this case the baldness is also often reversed when the illness goes away - most can expect all their hair to grow back. Fungal infections of the scalp may also cause baldness. This can be cured with medicine but it may take an extremely long time (months and even years) for hair to regrow fully.
Additionally, the shampoo and hair products we use play an important role when it comes to this issue and this is why it is essential to pay close attention to them when we observe an intense hair loss.

 Stay tuned, more to come!

Using MSM After Shampoo

After shampooing my hair, I would usually towel dry then add coconut oil as a leave in conditioner . I shampooed my hair recently and I decided to use the MSM lotion on my scalp first and then add the coconut oil. When using the MSM lotion or cream on hair and scalp you will only need to use a very small amount because a little bit goes a long way. Apply this to the scalp and also to the hair; focus on any problem areas. Massage this into the scalp for about three to five minutes ( the longer the better). A little more of the MSM lotion could be applied if necessary.

I then added about ¼ tsp. of coconut oil and massaged this into my hair and scalp; Style as usual. Since I have done this application, it feels as if the condition of my scalp and hair has improved greatly. I didn’t have to use a lot of the MSM lotion on my scalp because a little bit goes a long way.

I also did something to boost the MSM content of the MSM lotion. I added about ¼ tsp. of MSM powder to a portion the MSM lotion before applying it to my scalp and hair.

MSM PRODUCT REVIEWS

TRIMEDICA MSM CREAM

There are many MSM creams out there, but after watching MSM videos on YouTube and reading online reviews, the Trimedica brand seemed to be the best recommended cream. However, I am still doing research on the Trimedica brand because some reviewers stated that this was not “Pure MSM”.

It is best to do your own personal research of the MSM products before purchase. Check the list of ingredients in detail and make sure that they are organic and not from chemical or contaminated sources. Also check the ingredient combination to make sure that it is the right selection and combination for your purpose.

I have been using the MSM lotion and cream for about two months now and my skin, especially my face, has cleared up dramatically. Dark spots, blackheads, acne marks/scars and uneven skin tone are almost all gone. I was having a lot of these problems and tried many other regular skincare products, but the MSM lotion and cream are the only things that have worked for me so far.

The MSM cream that I use is thick, a pure witish colour and non-greasy. I have now decided to use both the MSM cream and MSM lotion as my primary face (and body) care products. Always remember to do a patch test of the product on different parts of your skin first before proceeding to use it.

I have used the MSM cream for about five days on the back of my thighs to remove stretch marks. I saw a great improvement over the five day use, however I will need to use it in this area for a much longer period to see if it would completely remove the stretch marks. Yet the improvement I saw in the smoothing of the stretch marks over the five day period was very remarkable.

In its purest form, MSM is a white powdery crystalline product that has many health benefits, primarily for the detoxification of the body at the cellular level. I have also been using the MSM crystals (powder) and I will give you a review on that later on. I think that it is important to use MSM powder internally (in juice or water) to detoxify and so produce better external results on the skin. I take about a half tsp. of MSM powder and a half tsp. of vitamin C powder mixed in about 20 ounces of juice or water, morning and night.

RAW FOOD WORLD MSM LOTION, FACE AND BODY, MEDICINAL LOTION

I found this medicinal MSM lotion by Raw Food World. It comes in an 8 oz. bottle that you can squirt from the top. This lotion is light and non-greasy and I have used it on my face, body, scalp and hair. It goes on very smooth and clear and I have found that it can be used all over the body.

The results of using this lotion on my face and body are great. There is a dramatic clearing of spots and marks and a more even skin tone. As I continue to use these products, I expect to get better and better results. However you should always do a test patch first before using it on different parts of the skin just to make sure that you do not have an allergic reaction.

BENEFITS OF MSM

MSM is an essential sulfur compound which is found naturally in the human body. MSM is depleted from the body as we age but it can be taken as a supplement to restore our normal supply. The scientific name for MSM is methyl-sulfony methane or dimethyl sulfone. In its purest form it occurs as white crystals that are odorless and have a slightly bitter taste. MSM moves through the body and removes toxins and other contaminants from the blood. It repairs and restores the body at the cellular level.

Some of the claimed benefits of MSM are: healthy hair, skin and nails, removal of stretch marks and reducing of wrinkles. It is also claimed that MSM is useful for the treatment of:

Use of MSM Cream on Scalp and Hair

I decided to use more of the MSM cream and lotion on my hair and scalp because I felt that it would help with my scalp issues and slow hair growth. I have used the cream and lotion on my hair before but only to smooth and flatten the hairline. I have very dry and brittle hair as well as itchy scalp. I applied the cream directly to my scalp today and also added a little of the MSM lotion as reinforcement. It greatly calmed the itching on my scalp and hair breakage almost completely vanished. I then applied a little bit of both the lotion and cream directly on my hair and almost immediately my hair began to feel softer and smoother. Instead of being dry and brittle my hair is now softer and more manageable.

I am now wondering why I didn't think of doing this before because one of the  claimed benefits of MSM is that it grows hair, so why not use the cream/lotion directly on the scalp and hair? This is a light bulb moment! I am going to continue with this treatment for a couple days and report on the progress.
